AT&T Service This AT&T phone can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's 3G mobile broadband data network, which is available in most major metropolitan areas. The AT&T 3G network uses the dual-band 850/1900 MHz 3G network (UMTS/HSDPA), which provides download speeds ranging from 700 Kbps to 1.7 Mbps, and upload speeds ranging from 500 Kbps to 1.2 Mbps. This makes it possible to enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless multimedia services, and it gives you the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services. In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. Providing average data speeds between 75-135Kbps, it's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go. You'll also enjoy quad-band GSM connectivity, which allows you to make calls in more than 190 countries and access data applications in the more than 135 countries where AT&T offers international data roaming. With 3G connectivity, you'll be able to access AT&T's Video Share service, which enables you to send a live, one-way video stream to another compatible phone during a standard voice call. The service also allows you to switch the direction of the video stream during the same phone call. (Customers must be in an area served by the company's 3G network and have a Video Share-enabled phone.) While using Video Share with family and friends is a fun way to communicate, it's also very useful for business. Video Share lets you see progress on a job site or review the day's work without having to drive from an office or other site to do so. With 3G connectivity, you'll be able to access AT&T's Cellular Video (CV) service and the Internet while on the go. Cellular Video features content from CNN, The Weather Channel, iFilm, Comedy Central and exclusive premium content from HBO and much more. And you get access to AT&T Mobile Music, which enables you to buy tracks while on the, access the Napster and eMusic subscription music services, stream music video, discover what's playing with Music ID song-recognition software, and find out what's hot with The Buzz music news portal. Three Defective Mototola Karmas in less than 6 months June 28, 2010 Sharon Roth When I was eligible for an equipment upgrade, I chose the Motorola Karma. I liked the form, the design and the fact that I could use a standard earbud to listen to music. The first Karma would intermittently freeze then reset itself at random intervals. AT&T replaced it with a refurbished Karma which after a month of use, simply froze with the AT&T logo on the screen and would do nothing else - not even power off. I called AT&T customer service, was assured by the very polite lady that my problem would be settled satisfactorily and am now awaiting delivery of a THIRD Karma, since switching to another phone would add $50 to my AT&T bill (the first Karma had come with a $50 rebate). Meanwhile, I am back to a 2 year old Nokia 6650 fold that is dependable, sturdy and just works.
I am a middle-aged office worker. My cell phone is always in a stable, padded case unless it is in use. I never dropped, dunked or disassembled the phone. Because of the contract with AT&T (and my refusal to pay $50 for being gullible enough to believe Motorola's hype), I am stuck with a substandard and unreliable cell phone.
I feel as though I've been swindled by Motorola AND AT&T. When my current contract is done (in two years, unfortunately) , I am through with AT&T and of course I will NEVER again purchase a Motorola product.
Worst Moto phone I've ever owned June 9, 2010 A. Konar (Cambridge, MA US) The MPT sync constantly errors out
It likes to reboot
It's slow
I wish I had my a1200 back!

I hade this phone for almost a year and the retarted screan broke. I never droped it or anything and one morning it war broke.the whole top part was black and unresponsive CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am surprised nobody else has mentioned the cons April 26, 2010 Hunter Mercer CONS: First off, the volume setting non-existent, meaning that you can't adjust for just the ringer, but only for the alerts in general. Second, unless I am just totally missing it, there is no option to edit the pre-set shortcuts list. Yes you can adjust the launch bar list, but most of the items in the shortcuts list are useless to me. And finally, the alarm clock has to be enabled on a daily basis in order for it to work.
PROS: The talk quality is pretty good, and the battery life seems to be above par.
Not a fan March 31, 2010 Crystal (MA) I liked the size of the phone and the screen size, and at first I loved it but 4 months later I'm ready to move on. The only auto-lock feature is if you turn it off. When the keypad is locked and someone calls, you have to go through unlocking before answering, unlike every other phone I've had. You have to have your ear exactly over the tiny tiny speaker otherwise you can't hear ANYTHING, and my biggest gripe is that you CANNOT SEND VIDEO MESSAGES. You have to have a bluetooth connection which is totally inconvenient.
