(Learn more about where EV-DO coverage is offered.) The V Cast Music service enables you to download songs instantly to your phone, or purchase music through your PC and transfer the files to your phone. If purchased from your phone, you'll receive two copies of the song: a Windows Media Audio Pro Plus format at 64Kbps stereo is sent to your phone, and a Windows Media Audio 9 format at 160Kbps stereo is sent to your account in the V CAST Music online store for downloading to your PC. V Cast Music offers nearly 2 million songs, with more being added all the time. In addition to the V Cast Music service, this phone is also compatible with Verizon's V CAST Music with Rhapsody, which enables you to access this exclusive digital music service for RealNetworks and for MTV Networks. V CAST Music with Rhapsody delivers unlimited monthly access to music on up to three Rhapsody-compatible mobile phones and players and online on multiple PCs and Web browsers. In addition, customers who purchase music over-the-air are able to download the master copy of the songs or albums to their PCs free of digital rights management (DRM) software that restricts how and where music can be played. The V Cast Video service enables you to stream or download video clips to your phone from a variety of news, entertainment, sports, and weather channels, including CNN, ABC News, E!, CBS Sports, The Weather Channel, and VH1. Verizon's Mobile eMail gives you access to your Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and AOL accounts so you can read, write, and reply. Horrible Sound Quality March 14, 2010 dw12907 (Basalt, CO) I have had this phone for nearly two years. No problems with the touch screens etc. I think they work better than most, .. but ... the sound quality is horrible! Isn't that what a phone is for?
I can't hear my callers. I often have to have friends, who I know well, repeat sentences up to 3 times so I can understand what they are saying. Listening to voicemail from someone I don't know - just about impossible to do in a car or out on the street. I generally don't check voicemail until I'm back at the office. Overall, I avoid making calls on this phone because it's such a painful experience.
I brought the phone into a Verizon store to see if it was defective. They pretty much said - can you hear anything coming out the earpiece? then it's fine.
After hearing that others have had sound problems on the LG touch - I guess I'm pretty much going to rule out any other new LG options.
Would not recommend this phone at all February 19, 2010 Becky I have had my LG dare for 8 months, and i have had it replaced 3 times already, for many problems. the screen would go black and the phone would still be on. The battery got water damaged just being on the sink while in the shower. and right now the phone wont charge. so i have to get it replaced for the 4th time in 8 months! which is a new dare every 2 months! im very unhappy with this phone and all the problems that came with it. and i have a 2 year contract so im stuck with it. i have also had alot of "pocket dialing" since the lock button is a touch button, anything in your pocekt or purse can unlock it. The touch screen full key board is horrible, you end up hitting all the letters except the one your going for (and i have tiny fingers and nails). Over all its not a very wonderful phone, and isnt all its cracked up to be.
A simple and easy to use phone! January 31, 2010 Derek Hubbard (Ohio) I've had the LG Dare phone for a few months now, and I've really grown to enjoy it. There is a small learning curve, but it was fairly easy to figure out in a day or two. The main feature I enjoy is the useful way it organizes texts and phone calls. Although I do not use it much, I also like the camera and video capabilities. The reason I gave it four stars, though, was because I feel the app downloading could be more organized and could also use more free and trial apps. But, overall, I really love this phone!
I really Want to like this phone! January 31, 2010 L. Martineau (Clarence Center, NY) I have had four LG Dare phones in the past year and the fourth one is not working properly so it's going back too. I am very frustrated with LG and Verizon, with no end in sight. I guess I was lucky that it worked pretty well for 11 months. Every phone I get has something different wrong with it- touch screen not responding, broken camera,no one could hear me speak, unable to make calls or send text messages, phone doesn't recognize card, etc etc. I can't even imagine who does the refurbing at LG because obviously they aren't doing it, period! This could have been an awesome multimedia phone if only it worked predictably.
Pros & Cons November 23, 2009 D. Hamlin (Arizona) I bought this phone for my wife. It has its good points and its bad points. The good is that as compared to other phones with the same functions, it is a good buy. The battery life between charges is average. We have not had any problems with reception that you would normally have with a cell phone. My wife loves being able to store pictures and showing them to friends. The bad side is that you will need a silicone cover to prevent the phone from turning on when inside a purse or pocket book. Even with the lock function it will still unlock and possibly dial a missed call. I will also point out that most of the touch screen phones have this same problem. The scroll function is not as easy to use as you might think. The biggest draw back is that the screen is near impossible to read or see in bright sunlight. I give it an average rating for a cell phone. Do not always believe the bad reviews, because my phone that I purchased at the same time did not have good reviews, but it has worked out just fine.
