4 out of 5 stars Formatting Is Better   May 14, 2010

The content deserves a solid 4*s. The stories are generally pretty good. If you're a sci-fi fan, there's a lot to like about this magazine. Decent to really good stories,

As for the oft-complained about formatting, there were a couple of stories that were formatted poorly: lacking or sporadic section breaks, ellipses that break across a line, graphics that were in the middle of text rather than the beginning of the story, etc. Section breaks aren't a big deal if you're just following one character but for stories that have multiple points of view characters a lack of section breaks can really be hard to follow. Fortunately those were the exception.

I don't mind paying the same price for the Kindle version as I would for the printed version. Unlike books, with magazines I usually end up keeping stacks of them until I run out of room and then...recycling. I get it quick and it doesn't take up space in my house.

You get a 14-day trial so there's nothing to lose really. I tried it and liked it so I subscribed.

i dont understand how Dell thinks $2.99 per month is the same as $29.97 per year as there are 12 months in a year, not 10.

We at Dell Magazines would like to take this opportunity to explain how our subscriptions work. Each year, Dell Magazines publishes 10 Asimov's Science Fiction magazines. Eight of the 10 are single issues and 2 are double issues. At our Asimov's website, the subscription cost is $29.97, which equates to $2.99 per issue (10 issues per year).

At Amazon, the subscription cost for Asimov's is $2.99 per month, equating to $29.97 for 10 issues per year, including 2 double issues. The price is the same $2.99 for both the print and digital 1-year subscriptions.

We hope this information helps to put our loyal customers at ease with the pricing structure and to understand that we strive to provide the best service and pricing available. We want our loyal customers to continue to enjoy one of the world's leading science fiction magazines.

Thank you,
Dell Magazines

4 out of 5 stars Great Mag, but format/cost issues   January 8, 2010

I am new to Kindle (Christmas 2009), so still experimenting. Asimov's Science Fiction magazine was a favorite years ago, but I had lost track. The content is still as enjoyable as I had remembered. I don't understand why the electronic Kindle edition should cost me more than a hard copy subscription, so I will probably go that way. Further, the very frequent format problems (particularly the absence of a space between words) became a significant irritant. There seems to be at least one instance on every page, at 100% where a word has been italicized!

I hope you all can get both these issues resolved. If so, let me know and I'll subscribe thru Kindle (that is if you can also get AT&T to provide a signal somewhere in the vicinity of my home in eastern Ohio).
