Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The chef's knife is a kitchen staple, with a wide straight edged blade ideally suited to cutting and chopping fruits and vegetables, herbs, and so on. Some may find the 10" length too awkward and unwieldy, and for those people we recommend this slightly shorter knife. R. H. Forschner is a division of Swiss Army Brands, Inc, renowned for the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. These knives are specially ground and tempered so that they can be resharpened over and over again, keeping a sharp edge throughout their lifetime. State of the art technology blended with old world craftsmanship produce cutting instruments of excellent quality, at reasonable prices. Forschner Victorinox Fibrox knives have earned high marks in a well-known cooking magazine which stringently tests kitchen products.

5 out of 5 stars Sharp Knife!   October 14, 2008
I bought this knife because of the Cooks Illustrated review. I love it. It's a versatile size, very sharp and comfortable in my hand.

"America's Test Kitchen" recommended the Forschner as a good knife. It Is. The knife arrived quickly, and in great condition.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Product   September 25, 2008
I recently received this chef's knife and I find it very sharp and well made. It is noticably sharper than my older Wustoff knives and the blade is nice and wide for scooping items off the cutting board. It was sharp enough to effortlessly cut paper thin slices from some stringy leftover steak tips that I pulled out of the fridge for fajitas. The grip is rather large which may not be great for those with small hands but it is a rubbery non-slip surface that would make it great for commercial applications. I may get the 10" version as well. This knife combined with a good paring knife and a serrated bread knife would be all you need to start out with. I have a small MAC knife and this knife is just as sharp. This inexpensive item would make a great gift to anyone who cooks for themselves and their family. The blade is stamped I believe but it is not flimsy at all and has a nice heft to it. I do not believe that you could find a significantly sharper blade for 10 times the price.
